Marei Seuthe | Violoncello, Voice and Musical Theatre

Marei Seuthe, after her studies at the Musikhochschule Köln, is on the move at the interface between improvisation, composition and performance with cello, voice and singing saw. Based in Bergisch Galdbach, she works with musicians, composers, dancers and video artists at home and abroad. A.m.o with the artist Peter Hölscher, with whom she has worked on various photo-video-music projects and whose sound sculptures she regularly plays in concerts and at festivals. Also with musician and composer Dietmar Bonnen. She has performed with various formations at international festivals, a.o. Festival Météo in Mulhouse (F) and the Beethovenfest Bonn. She was invited as guest artist to the HumaNoise Congress in Wiesbaden in 2002 and to the New Directions Cello Festival in Ithaca, New York in 2012 and 2014. She created the experimental choral piece "Missa" as part of the festival "Lichte Stille" by the Archdiocese of Cologne. In 2009 she was invited to the Theatertreffen in Berlin as a stage musician with the production "Wunschkonzert" by the Schauspiel Köln. She has developed several programmes in the series "Philharmonie mini" of the Philharmonie Köln and freelance broadcasts for the WDR (West German Radio Broadcasting).

Gerno Bogumil | Trumpet, Objects, Music Performance

works nationally and internationally, as a performance artist and musician (trumpet, bass, percussion, etc.) among others the music groups: The Absurd, Intermission, Bogumil-Zierold-Duo , ADAM NOIDLT Missiles, with Mary-Noel Dupuis, Banda Metafisika and many more. He performs as a soloist in project-related works, for example KlangDrang-Festival Unerhörter-Musik, Altstadtherbst Kulturfestival in Dusseldorf In the early 80s he worked as a performer and musician with the legendary performance group Minus Delta T. Since 1986 until today he has been working artistically continuously with Angie Hiesl.

Laurenz Gemmer | musical advisor

is professor for piano playing at the Academies of Music of Cologne, Osnabrück and Rostock, Germany. He studied with Paulo Álvares, Florian Weber and Hubert Nuß at the Academies of Music of Köln and Osnabrück classical and modern music as well as jazz..With a grant of the Kunststiftung NRW he studied indian music in Chennai (Madras). At the Grotrian Steinweg Wettbewerben in Weimar he won the audience award, as well the awards for songplay and improvisation. With the multicultural production „Shifting Grounds“ of the ZZT Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln he started collaborating with dance continuing with the duo „SubContinentiousCycles“ with dancer Photini Meletiadis. Present projects cover the fields of experimental music with performance „Das Klangregime“ or Electronics „Turm der Liebe“ up to the repertory of modern music with his Trio GeradeUngerade“ which is presented at the Philharmonie Köln and internationally.

Christoph Hillmann

Drums, Percussion, Elektronic Sounds

is one of the high profile sidemen of German contemporary Jazzmusic. He embraces modern jazz, chambermusic and livemanipulated electronic soundscapes. Uses exotic percussion instruments and selfmade instruments. He played live and as studio musician with Norbert Stein “Pata Masters”, “A.Tronic” with Dave Liebmann/ Charlie Mariano, Frank Speer Quartett, with Nils Wogram, Angelika Nisciers “Sublim”, with Hans Lüdemann, Paolo Fresu a.m.o.

Paul Hubweber

Posaune

is an outstanding soloist of experimental and improvised trombone music.
He plays trombone in soloconcerts since 75, leads own formations (like PAPAJO with Paul Lovens and John Edwards). Worked with Peter Kowald, John Butcher among many others. Member of the London Improvisational Orchestra. Frequent performer at international festivals like documenta 8, Ars Electronica Linz (A), Experimental Media (NYC), CIEF Festival Kopenhagen (DK), PRO MUSICA NOVA Bremen etc. Performs with Britta Lieberknecht since 96 combining his musical partnership with extraordinary physical interactions.

Harald Kimmig

Violine

studied classical violine and composition in Freiburg and played in his early carreer with jazzimprovisers Cecil Taylor, Steve Lacy and John Tchicai. He gives Soloconcerts as well as playing with diverse formations and writing compositions for orchestras.(kxutrio, F-Orchestra, Lee Konitz, Irene Schweizer, Maggie Nicols, Gunter Hampel, Sirone). He also collaborated closely with dancers and choreographers in many productions, a.o. Amanda Miller/ Stadttheater Freiburg, Lilo Stahl, Anzu Furukawa, Britta Lieberknecht,.Hideto Heshiki. Recently he produced the soloevening „Lines and Circles for a walking violinist“ playing the violine and dancing at the same time, a bordercrossing work with brilliant techniques in both oevres and the ingenuine connection of both in one person. Presently he is artistic director of the „Festival for Modern Musik- Soundscape“ in Stommeln, NRW.

Willy Daum

composer and musician

studied piano and drums in Bremen. Interpreter and composer of experimental music his special interest lies in the the border areas between the arts. Many projects with theater, arts, video, film and danceperformance. Willy Daum was a.o. solodrummer in „Seiltanz“ by Hans-Joachim Hespos and performed his own Kurt Schwitters programms. A central theme of his composition is the integration of noises into the musical language. Grants and commissioned works for chamber music, orchestra, theater, dance, film and radio. Tourings in Europe, USA and Central Asia.

Toshiko Takada

Violine

studied the violine at the University of Arts, Tokyo and took a masterclass at the Hochschule für Musik Cologne. She has been member of the WDR-Sinfonieorchester Cologne for 30 years and also played solo and chambermusic in many concerts in Europe and Japan. Presently she works in independent performance projects.

 

 

 

 

Josef Kirschgen

Drums

Josef Kirschgen is an experienced drummer and rhythm person in different styles. He played with musicians and bands in Europe and Africa (a.o. Schäl Sick Brass Band), recorded LPs and CDs, participated in many TV- Radio- and Theaterproductions and won the price of the „Deutschen Schallplattenkritik“ twice. TV performances with the Harald-Schmidt- Show and 7 Tage 7 Köpfe, Gayle Tufts, Lilo Wanders etc. Presently Josef plays with Ueberkings, Mark Selby European Band and the Urban Funk Triptett. He also collaborated with Stoppok, Pe Werner, BANTU, Embryo, Dominique Horwitz, Pete Brown (JackBruce) and Dick Heckstall Smith (Colusseum) and the Black Föös.

Hannah Weirich

Violin

Hannah Weirich took her first violin lessons at the age of six. 1992 she was junior student of Prof. Agostini and she studied at the HfM Stuttgart 1999-2004 with Prof. Turban. She took master lessons with Gulli, Neamann, Ozim and Zsigmondy.
1992 she founded together with her sister Anna Weirich and Silvia Nitschke the Trio Fridegk. This trio won national (Berlin 2003) and international awards (Hradec 2000) and reached 2007 the finals of the Melbourne international Chamber Competition. They played concerts in all of Europe and Asia and were 2002 artist in residence at the UC Davis in California. She played as soloist with the Nürnberger Symphoniker, the Staatsphilharmonie Krakau and the Philharmonic Orchestra Hagen. She won several awards, a.o. first prize at the Jakob Stainer Violin Competition and the advancement award of the region NRW 2011. Hannah Weirich worked a.o. with the Ensemble Resonanz, ascolta, ensemble plus, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Contemporaneartensemble (Florenz) and der jazz formation Shreefpunk. 2005 she became member of the Ensemble Musikfabrik, touring important national and international festivals. Besides her concert carreer she is teacher of the Bundesjugendorchester and the Jugendensembles für Neue Musik Studio Musikfabrik.

Matthias Buchholz

Viola

The Hamburg born violist studied there and at the Musikhochschule Detmold and continued his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He won awards at various national and international music competitions and became member of the Lion - Ensemble 1991, recording several CDs with them. He took part in premieres of works of Aribert Reimann, Hans Zender und Heinz Holliger and became solo violist at the RSO Stuttgart 1986. 1990 he was appointed professor for viola at the Musikhochschule Köln; since 2003 he also works at the HEM in Geneva.

Peter Stein

Violin and Viola

lead different orchestras as concert master after his degree from the Kölner Hochschule für Musik and played in several formations of chamber music. He was invited to festivals like the Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival, the Salzburger Festspiele, Oregon-Bach-Festival (USA) and the Europäisches Musikfest, Stuttgart. From 1990-2005 he was member of the Verdi Quartett, touring often through the USA, Kanada, Korea and Europe. Among the many CD recordings of this ensemble one finds a.o. the complete recordings of the string quartetts of Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms.
From 2001-2013 he was concert master of the Bayer-Philharmoniker Leverkusen. His first Solo CD was released 2001 as part of an art book to the „sieben letzten Worten Jesu am Kreuz“, a painting cycle of Rolf Stein. Solo performances with orchestras, with various piano partners and chamber music formations, duets with his wife, singer Ingeborg Danz or pure solo performances are important part of his versatile musical work.
