Britta Lieberknecht took Art‘s Intensive Course at the Gymnasium parallel to her dance study. She started to explore the connection of visual art and dance. During her professional life she found increasingly more forms of that relationship. She created drawings/ paintings, sculptures, films and installations for her dance performances. The Museum of Sculpture Glasbox Marl presented the performance KANGA- FUCKIN- ROO
in the program „Grenzgänge 2004“ and showed the installation resulting from the process of the performance in a subsequent Exhibition. The transition from performance to exhibition was made.
Since 2001 she develops drawings sperately from her dance pieces. She draws movmement. Britta sees drawing as a dance with the drawing materials, originating from inner dynamics like breathing, body sensations, rhythm, listening, touch, perception. She avoids the straight line and the geometric form, or any other clear form, to have the image represent the moment of movement itself, pure movement without a hold or arrival, often an explosive moment of genesis or a balancing. The colours she hears as sounds, bringing them together to a complex music. Since 2016 she presents drawings and solo dance together in exhibitions. Both are shown as seperate but closely related works.
Since 2016 she presents drawing and dancing related to each other in exhibitions and performance programmes. Drawing and dancing happen seperately but related or as action painting.
